Vale Mrs Fran Murphy

It is with great sadness that we recognise the passing of Central Aquatic Swimming and Lifesaving Club and Royal Lifesaving Life Member, Mrs Frances Murphy.

During her lifetime, Fran was a dedicated contributor to the Western Australian lifesaving movement. She volunteered as an instructor and examiner, and helped with many carnivals and camps. The number of children she taught to Swim and Survive were too numerous to count.

‘Mrs Murphy’ demonstrated the most genuine and inspiring example whether she was running Vac-swim classes, in-term lessons, or at Bayswater Waves teaching lifesaving with the Central Aquatic Swimming and Lifesaving Club.

Her numerous honours awards include;

  • 1983 Life Member Western Australian Honour
  • 1985 Recognition Badge Western Australian Honour
  • 1986 Companion Australian Honour
  • 1987 Certificate of Thanks Australian Honour
  • 1989 Bar to Recognition Badge Western Australian Honour
  • 1990 Certificate of Thanks Australian Honour
  • 1991 Service Cross Commonwealth Honour
  • 1999 Meritorious Service Award Australian Honour
  • 2011 Bar to Service Cross Australian Honour

On behalf of Central Aquatic Swimming and Lifesaving Club we extend our deepest condolences and sympathies to the family of Mrs Frances Murphy. We will not forget her contribution to our club or the swimming and lifesaving community in general.
